Extra Credit Options (you may choose one or both or none of them):
1. Movie critique is uploaded (10 points): movie choices are listed.  Choices are pulled from Unit 1: 1450-1648 and Unit 2: 1648-1815

2. Napoleon selfie AND the LEQ response (15 points): The selfie directions are uploaded, pay attention to first two pages only, the other pages are an abridged version of the assignment, but, I want you to pull from a wider variety of topics.  Regarding the LEQ practice, the prompt is based on the skill continuity and change of time, meaning, in your thesis and support in your essay, you will need to answer what changed and what stayed the same.  Prompt:
To what extent did Napoleon maintain  Enlightenment ideals from the French Revolution during 1799-1815?
*So, keep in mind, this prompt is asking you what Enlightened ideals did he successfully maintain/continue, BUT implied, is also what changed and why...so perhaps consider in maintaining an Enlightened despostism what does he keep and what does he have to change..why?   Happy LEQing!!

3. Euro sightings: this is an ongoing extra credit option good through Spring Break.  When you have a Euro encounter (on a topic we have covered--so World War 2 doesn't count until we get to it) on a family outing, while watching your favorite show, ... I want you to share with us.  For example, while I was eating at Bucca Di Beppo's on the menu, was a giant picture of Da Vinci's, Mona Lisa--Euro Sighting. While visiting Universal Studios and in line for the Despicable Me ride, I looked up and one of the decorations was Jacques-Louis David's painting of Napoleon as Emperor recreated as a Despicable Me themed art...Euro Sighting.  Cat, in second period, said while watching American Horror Story one of the characters was reading Voltaire's Candide...Euro Sighting.  Here is what you do:
1. Tell me what you found to determine if it will count.
2. Have a picture/location of your find(title, place..) and write/tape on my Euro sighting paper--I'll show you where
3. Write your name next to it
That's it!  Please note:
*Credit for this will be applied after Spring Break--so a second semester option, BUT, you can be gathering credit towards this now! 2 points per sighting with a maximum of 10 sightings accepted for credit--you are welcome to add more!
*The sightings have to just happen and almost surprise you that the comparison was made, a reference was sighted in whatever you are watching, reading, or visiting...so, if you are watching a documentary on the French Revolution, you can't surprised that Robespierre was mentioned--doesn't count!

Uploaded is the notebook guide for organizing

Assignment

LEQ:

In what ways did antiquated political, economic and social structures lead to the French Revolution?

This is a Causation prompt, which means you need to address cause AND effect in your answer!  Do you have three topics for your main body? your welcome :)

Remember,

Intro: historical context (what is happening at the same time as the topic, the French Revolution? Think about SPRITE. Develop the background for the prompt.  THEN, move to create your thesis (use the language of the prompt, because and answer it), THEN, your last sentence, your POA/extended thesis.  If you use political, economic and social in your thesis, in your POA, you expand on what about political, economic, social--what direction are you going with each of them (ie: if it was religion in the Wars of Religion, I might say, religious divide that emerged (that way I leave myself open to talk about a lot and I can always get even more specific in my topic sentence?

Happy LEQing!
