Band Pageant is on November 6
Join us for the 38th Annual Band Pageant
The Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District is pleased to invite the community to its 38th Annual Band Pageant, which will take place on Wednesday, November 6 at 7:00 p.m. at Bradford Stadium located at 500 N. Bradford Avenue in Placentia.
The pageant will feature more than 1,200 students performing in bands, dance teams, color guards and identification units from all PYLUSD middle schools and comprehensive high schools.
Each school unit will perform its competition march for spectators. The bands will then assemble on the field to salute our nation with the “Star Spangled Banner.” After intermission, the high schools perform their amazing field shows.
The public is invited to attend. Pre-sale tickets are $5. They can be purchased through band members or band teachers. Tickets will also be available at the event for $6. Proceeds go to the music programs in the district.
The Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District’s music programs have received numerous distinctions. In 2008 and 2010, the school district was recognized as one of America’s “Best Communities for Music Education,” a recognition presented by the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Foundation, a nationwide group of music industry retailers, producers and distributors. In addition, El Dorado High School’s band marched in the 2005 and 2010 Tournament of Roses Parade. No other Orange County high school band has received the prestigious invitation in a quarter century. Earlier this month, three PYLUSD high school students were selected as members of the 2014 Tournament of Roses Parade Honor Band. These are a few of many accolades.
More than 9,000 students participate in the school district’s music program. Music education in the PYLUSD is offered in elementary, middle and high schools.
