He also spent three years in Dallas where he won an Emmy for his report on the shooting massacre in Fort Hood. He also covered compelling Dallas news stories ranging from tornadoes to massive wildfires to the Dallas Cowboys. In 2012, he joined the Charlotte news team.
Southern California news watchers can see Daut starting in September when he joins the KCBS/KCAL News team.
His alma mater, El Dorado High School, today is known for an award-winning Digital Media Arts Academy. Now in its fourth year, the El Dorado’s Digital Media Arts Academy prepares students for college and careers in the digital arts. The school offers three distinct pathways: video production and broadcasting, animation, and photography. Students in the highly sought-after academy produce digital portfolios, a weekly broadcast show, and numerous animation/film projects using the best equipment in the business. Their recently-built recording and editing studio is complete with computers loaded with a suite of the latest industry software. Students can also earn Apple certification in Adobe Flash, Final Cut Pro and other software used by professionals in the video and film industry. Students have won a myriad of awards and one student work was even selected to the Cannes Film Festival. Alumni are now employed with companies such as Universal and MTV.
